Mowing your lawn the right way is a simple task, but the details are very important. Different seasons and weather conditions play a large role in how you mow your lawn. Height and frequency are the two biggest factors. You have to remember your lawn is a plant. and like any plant, too much stress can cause disease or kill it. A general rule of thumb is that when it is hot and/or dry, you cut the grass longer. When it is cool and or wet, you can cut the grass shorter. However, if you are not sure, cutting the grass long is a safe bet. This allows the roots to grow deeper and the plant to be more resistant to stress. Also, it is im
portant to mow you lawn as frequent as it needs. You never want to take off more than 1/3 of the plant every time you mow. This could be as long as every two weeks, or as short as every three days.
The difference between a homeowner (and some landscapers), and UpperCut Lawn & Landscape is all in the edging. We use our weed whackers to edge all the walkways, driveways, and flower beds perfectly. Once you have created a nice clean edge in the spring, maintaining it with your trimmer all summer is what keeps it looking crisp.
